Privacy Policy

BestBy is local-first. You can use the core app without creating an account, and we do not sell personal data, show third-party advertising, or track you across apps and websites.
Data stored on your device
Your item names, dates, notes, document numbers, reminders, photos, OCR results, and exports are stored on your device. They leave your device only when you choose to share an export. A scanned barcode is sent only when you request a product lookup.
Product lookup
When you scan a product barcode, the numeric barcode may be sent to Open Food Facts to retrieve public product information. BestBy does not send your item notes, photos, or document details with that request.
Camera, photos, and notifications
Camera and photo access are used only when you scan or attach something. Barcode and text recognition run on device. Notification access is used to schedule the reminders you choose.
Purchases
BestBy Pro is available as a monthly or yearly subscription, or as a one-time lifetime purchase. All payments are processed by Apple through StoreKit. We receive your entitlement status — whether Pro is active — but never your payment-card details. Subscriptions are managed in Settings › Apple Account › Subscriptions.
Retention and choices
You can delete any item inside the app at any time. To erase everything at once, open Settings › Your data › Delete all data, which permanently removes every item, photo and scheduled reminder from your device. Deleting the app also removes all of it. Because BestBy never creates an account, there is nothing stored on our servers to delete. To ask us anything about your data or privacy, contact contact@coheronlab.com.
